National Formulary Executive Group

A small National Formulary Executive Group takes overall responsibility for editorial policies, scope, style and standards. This meets twice a year and at other times as necessary. Professional, editorial and publishing interests are be represented on the group.

Paediatric Formulary Committee

The Paediatric Formulary Committee (PFC) is responsible for the content of the BNFC. Doctors and pharmacists on the Committee decide on matters of policy and review amendments to BNFC in the light of new evidence and expert advice.

The Committee meets quarterly and each member also reviews proofs of all BNFC chapters before publication. The membership of the Committee is:

• Chairperson (paediatrician), appointed jointly by the BMA, RPSGB, and the RCPCH
• 2 Paediatricians, nominated by the RCPCH
• 2 Paediatric pharmacy specialists, nominated by the NPPG
• 1 Pharmacist, nominated by the RPSGB
• 1 Physician, nominated by the BMA
• 1 General practitioner, nominated by the Royal College of General Practitioners
• 1 Pharmacovigilance/licensing specialist, nominated by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency
• 1 Representative of the Department of Health
